Grail Engineering was honoured to manufacture and install the new Imjin War Memorial at the Cyril Hart Arboretum in the Forest of Dean, creating a lasting tribute to the local veterans who fought during the Battle of the Imjin River in the Korean War.

The memorial was officially unveiled on 24th April, marking an important moment in preserving the legacy of the brave men from the Forest of Dean who served with the Gloucestershire Regiment and other units during one of the fiercest battles fought by British forces since the Second World War. The Battle of the Imjin River, fought between 22 and 25 April 1951, played a crucial role in preventing the capture of Seoul during the Korean War.

For Grail Engineering, this project carried a particularly personal significance. One of our employees is the son of Roy Mills, the last surviving Forest of Dean veteran of the Battle of the Imjin River. Knowing that this memorial would help preserve the memory of Roy and the men who served alongside him made the project especially meaningful for our entire team.

As a family-run engineering company based in the Forest of Dean, we are proud to have contributed to a memorial that honours not only a significant chapter in military history but also the local men whose courage, resilience and sacrifice helped shape that history.

From fabrication through to installation, our team worked with great care and attention to detail to ensure the memorial would provide a fitting place for remembrance and reflection for generations to come. Situated within the peaceful surroundings of Cyril Hart Arboretum, the memorial serves as a lasting reminder of the service and sacrifice of Forest of Dean veterans who fought in the Korean War.

We would like to thank everyone involved in bringing this important project to life. It has been a privilege for Grail Engineering to play a part in creating a permanent tribute to the veterans of the Battle of the Imjin River and to honour the memory of local heroes such as Roy Mills
